Vintage Boho - The Way To Goho

It would come to no surprise that  I love the vintage look. Lately, though, I'm really, really drawn to the boho vintage look. I love the 'thrown together' feel that boho creates. I love the idea of mixing all of the pieces you love to create it's own unique look. It makes nests really fun and individual and it takes away that hoity toity designer look that is so carefully pieced together and...let's face it...anal. It's a homey look. It's a cosy look. It's a child-friendly look. It's a look that I'm after in my own nest.

With the help of my friend, Lynda, I have rearranged my rumpus room. It's starting to come together well and with a lick of paint (I can't stand the colours in there!!) and a vintage boho theme I'm looking forward to spending more time in there. I want it to be more 'Lewi' friendly and fun. He is the one who hangs out in there the most and it's the place he goes when his friends come over. I want to be able to display his artworks in a fun way and all of his bits and pieces as well as my own. So, I've decided to paint it off white (with a lick of green here and there) and then bring the shots of colour in using fabrics and textures and soft furnishings and artworks and wall hangings and lots and lots of feathering. The boho look is best when the background is neutral - something quite alien in my nest at the moment. It's fun to be thinking about other ways of designing. Just like a garden, a nest  interior is ever changing.

So...funky, vintage, boho....here we goho!

Bohemian Vintage is a beautiful blog! It is filled with vintagey boho inspiration. Here are a few OK, a few more than a few) photos from the blog. Go and have a look there yourself. You'll see what I mean.

This look is soooo easy to achieve on a budget. Some funky fabrics and some cheapy canvases and you could come up with your own vintage boho wall. Team them with colour coordinated tins or other feathering pieces and...hey presto...you've got a lovely display for not much money.

Boho does mixed patterns beautifully, don't you think?

gorgeous, gorgeous. Yes, I love it, and the look can be changed so easily by swapping a dominant feature or print or simply by moving the same stuff around. Love it:)

Thanks Kim, some great ideas in this posting.

Who would have thought of putting such an elegent settee with that amazing rustic fence paling/post? coffee table. I love both of them and would never thought my taste could be combined so well.

the baby cot is gorgeous would love this at my place for Matt.

and the kids room looks so inviting and fun to delight any child or big child at heart.

Hi Kim,
I also love the rustic coffee table. I would leave the casters off the bottom though otherwise I could see two boys flying around the room on it.
I have seen some thermos's like the pink one at Mogo about 1 1/2 years ago. I was very close to buying one.
I really love the cushion in the second last picture.Isn't it gorgeous?

Caster coffee table like that was at the gallery at Cobargo, and Julie M I almost bought that thermos from Mogo as well about 1 1/2years ago! Probably will get it if I ever see it again.

I got a couple of rocking chairs yesterday, one baby-bear rocking chair I'd love to paint and chuck somewhere, but need to decide on a colour.

Love that thermos. I've almost bought one too! We all MUST get one together and be done with it. They have them, in green as well...yum!

Mer - tell me about these rocking chairs. Where did you get them from? They sound cute. Can't wait to see them.

I love your pics. I'm with you - vintage boho for me too. Would love to see what you've done with your nest - has that rumpus room had the boho treatment yet?
Now following your blog.

Thanks, Karen. I haven't actually done much more bohoing to my rumpus as we've put our nest on the market. I'm busy planning away for a new nest, one day. A lot more boho will be in it, I'd say:)
Thanks for following x

So much to love here. The fabrics/wallpapers stretched on the walls are fab - and you're right, so cheap and easy.

Thanks for Rewinding at the Fibro.
